Important: Before You Go

Aruba Entry Requirements (U.S. Travelers) 🌴

U.S. travelers visiting Aruba must have a valid passport. All travelers must complete Aruba’s Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) Card online and pay a $20 USD entry fee, valid for one year. This form is required for entry but does not guarantee admission—final approval occurs upon arrival. Completing the ED card prior to arrival streamlines customs and health screening.

You may also be asked to provide proof of return travel and your accommodation details. For the most current information, visit the official Aruba Tourism Authority page.

U.S. citizens are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for real-time alerts and emergency contact support via the U.S. Embassy in Aruba.

Planning and Booking

Currency

Aruba uses the Aruban Florin (AWG) as its official currency, but U.S. dollars are widely accepted everywhere on the island. This makes spending very easy for American travelers, and most visitors never need to exchange money.

📡 How your U.S. phone works in Aruba

Most U.S. carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T‑Mobile, US Cellular, etc.) have roaming agreements with Aruba’s networks. Your phone will automatically connect to Setar or Digicel when you land. You can make calls, send texts, and use data, but roaming charges vary widely by carrier and can be expensive without an international plan. Calls often run $2–$3 per minute, and background data can add up quickly.

Turn on airplane mode or set up international roaming with your cellular provider to avoid hefty fees!

These 35-m2 rooms have a lounge area with a sofa, a super king size bed (200×200 cm) or two twin extra-long beds (125×200 cm). Bedding requests are not guaranteed. They are based on availability upon check-in. Also, WiFi, satellite TV, a minibar and beverage dispenser, a coffee maker, and a balcony or terrace with views of the sea.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance

  • ✈️ What that means for you:
  • You’ll go through U.S. immigration, customs, and agriculture inspections before boarding your flight in Aruba.
  • When you land in the U.S., you can skip passport control and customs—just grab your bag or head straight to your connecting flight.
  • The airport has a dedicated “USA Departures” terminal with color-coded access windows based on your flight time.
    • The building located to the right of the arrivals hall is used for checking in all US bound flights.
    • After checking in, leave the building through the exit on the left side of the building.
    • When outside, follow the terminal signs to the right towards security screening and the gates.

American Airlines Fare Classes (chart)

RIU CLASS POINTS

Riu Class points can only be used on bookings made directly with Riu. The group rate and terms with Riu was less favorable than the Apple Vacation Groupease Rate.

For every 10 points available in your Riu Class account, you’ll have 1 EUR or 1 USD or 20 MXN, depending on the hotel’s currency, discounted from your bill for extra expenses during your stay.

To redeem your points for extra expenses in the hotel like laundry, a room upgrade, late check-out, and more, you’ll need to log your visit under “Add future bookings”. You can also give your Riu Class number at hotel reception on the day you arrive.

Points will be redeemed automatically unless you indicate otherwise.
If you do not wish to redeem your points, please let hotel reception know. Don’t forget to request your invoice at check-out.
